HydroHarrys Newsletter November 2010Product Spotlight: Botanicare SweetI know there are four different flavors, but what is Sweet? Botanicare Sweet is a cool product that contains a combination of organic compounds and essential elements directly involved in plant photosynthesis and respiration. Basically, Sweet helps with healthy leaf development in vegetation, provides stress free transition into flowering, and sets the stage for good fruit and flower development. The sweet thing about Sweet is that it's available in four flavors, Berry (the original), Citrus, Grape, and the new Raw. No matter which you choose, Sweet can be used from the vegetation phase all the way through flowering and fruit bearing, so it helps your plants grow strong, makes your fruits tastier, and your flowers have more aroma; a sweet aroma if you will. HydroHarrys has all four flavors, stop by and give them a try! Why Hydroponics? Part 1.
Seriously, this is truly the future of gardening. Growers all over the world are using hydroponic techniques due to the lack of a large water supply or fertile farmland. Home gardeners have started to use hydroponics on a smaller scale to grow fresh vegetables year round and to grow plants in smaller spaces, such as an apartment or balcony. Soil-free hydroponic gardening offers many advantages to the home gardener. Since a sterile medium is used, there are no weeds to remove, and soil-borne pests and diseases are minimized, if not eliminated completely. Properly grown hydroponic plants also are healthier and more vigorous because all of the necessary growth elements are readily available. The plants can mature faster, yielding an earlier harvest of vegetable and flower crops. Staff Highlight: TobyToby is the manager of HydroHarrys Farmington Hills. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Marketing, and now enjoys talking hydroponics and indoor gardening with just about any one who walks in the door at HydroHarrys. Toby grew up in Walled Lake wanting to be a professional baseball player, but a severe shoulder injury ended that dream. So, he spends his days at Harrys; but you can catch him playing old time vintage baseball at Greenfield Village during the summer. For real ... no gloves, baggy wool uniforms, it's a hoot to watch. In his spare time he is watching sports, acting in local theater productions, working pottery, or participating in Civil War re-enactments. Toby is recently engaged and has two children.
